A successful migration starts with flawlessly unlocking your legacy data. Compass Mediatr is our proprietary software that serves as the central engine for this process, enabling us to securely connect to any source system, regardless of technology. Our advanced ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) tool is also deployed here.

Compass Mediatr establishes a direct, secure connection to your source database. It extracts the necessary data and loads it into a self-configured, isolated staging environment. This guarantees zero impact on your live operation and provides us with a controlled workspace to prepare the data.

Compass Cleansing

Legacy data is inevitably contaminated. Within the staging environment, we utilise our platform's Compass Cleansing functionality. This semi automated process accelerates lengthy manual data archaeology:

Profiling & Analysis: We run automated profiling scripts that analyse the data for anomalies, missing values, and duplicate records.

Business rule engine: We'll work with you to define the business rules for cleanup in Mediatr. ("What do we do with orders without a customer number?").

Automated correction & flagging: Our scripts apply these rules, correct data where possible, and flag records that require human decision making. This creates a clear and fully auditable cleanup process.

Compass Datamapper

The biggest technical challenge is the mismatch between the data structure of your old and new systems. The Compass Datamapper, a core component of our ETL layer, is designed to automate this translation.

Automated schema analysis: The Datamapper reads metadata from both the source and target schemas and generates an intelligent, suggested mapping.

Visual transformation: Our specialists use a visual interface to refine this mapping and configure complex transformations (the 'T' in ETL).

Code generation: The result is not a handwritten, error prone script, but an automatically generated, optimised transformation set that runs within Mediatr.

Compass Monitoring

After the initial data load, it's crucial to keep the data synchronised until the final go-live. Compass Monitoring orchestrates and monitors this process.

Change data capture (CDC): The Mediatr is configured to detect and extract only the changes in the source system, which is extremely efficient.

Real-time validation & audit trail: During delta loads and the final load (the "L" in ETL) to the target system, the platform monitors every transaction. We use record counts and checksums to ensure 100% data integrity.

Rollback guarantee: The entire architecture is designed for safety. Should a problem arise during go-live, the staging environment and our agile approach ensure a fast and secure rollback.
