The challenge

Lely's ambitious growth objectives required an IT environment as innovative and scalable as their own products. The existing, outdated landscape was hindering efficiency and could no longer optimally support the complex collaboration between the head office, the international clusters, and the local Lely Centers. The challenge was to build a completely new, future-proof digital foundation and IT ecosystem that would strengthen their core processes, from sales to service.

The solution

Lely's strategy was not to opt for a single, monolithic system, but for the best software for each specific task (best-of-breed). Our role as a strategic partner was twofold: to lead the program and, crucially, to act as the best of breed integrations specialist, uniting all these disparate, leading applications into one seamless whole.

Architecture & selection: First, in our program management role, we designed the blueprint for the new IT environment. This included selecting the best solutions for each core function: Infor M3 for ERP, Salesforce for sales, IFS for service, and MS Dynamics for finance.
The intelligent integration layer: The real challenge was getting these diverse systems, each with its own unique data model and processes, to talk to each other. Here, we deployed Compass Mediatr as the central middleware layer. Instead of building fragile point-to-point connections, our platform acts as the intelligent heart of the landscape. It receives data, translates it into the correct format, and delivers it flawlessly to the target system. This guarantees a consistent, validated, and real-time flow of information throughout the entire chain, from a sales opportunity in Salesforce to a work order in IFS and an invoice in MS Dynamics.
Phased migration & implementation: In parallel, we managed the migration from the old ERP system to Infor M3, using our phased approach to minimise risks and ensure business continuity.
